Poker Strategy and Poker Face

 

Poker is not a game of chance.  It is a game of skills.  If you do not have the skill and is constantly giving away your hand to your opponent, more often than not you have lost the games even before you start.

If you want to win in poker games, you have to learn the winning strategies including poker face.

In this article, we will discuss a bit about winning strategies and poker face.

The poker strategies you will find herewith do not only apply to live games but to online games as well.  Poker face, while it is a strategy for live games, you may also use it in your online gaming.  If you think it is absurd, it may help you to read on.

 

Poker Strategies

Some of the strategies used by players both online and offline is bluffing.  Poker tells and poker tilts are also discussed because while they can be faults, they are also used as strategies to deceive opponents.  We will discuss them here including poker face.

 

What is poker bluff?

Bluffing in poker is important if you want to win in the games.  How to use bluffing advantageously?

 

Here are some tips on poker bluffing to your advantage.

Bluffing is betting strongly with a marginal poker hand.  Alternatively, slow playing or betting small with winnable hands is likewise bluffing.

If you bet strongly, other players in the field will be forced to fold thinking that you have a strong hand that will beat their hand.  If you forced a better hand to fold, you may win the pot.

With strong hand, bluffing by slow playing, players with weaker hand will call your bets or even raise on you.  This will increase the pot and with your best hand, you win a bigger pot.

Other Strategies are poker tells and poker tilts.

 

What is Poker tells?

Poker tells are actions that gives away your hand, i.e., you show confidence and show signs of desire to increase the pot with your best hands or you show weakness like shaking or deep thinking with marginal hands.  Poker tells is actually faults for inexperienced players but for experienced players, they are actually winning strategies.

You can use poker tells by deceiving your opponents to think that you have strong hands when you show confidence and bet or raise quickly.  Even if you have marginal hands, you can use this strategy to win.

On the other hand, you may make your opponents think you are on a tilt making wrong raises and bets when you have the best hand.  This will increase the pot to your advantage.

All of these strategies will help you win games.

However, the best strategy is always using poker face.

Randomly using strategies like bluffing, tells and tilts can be very effective but constantly wearing a cool poker face will allow you to avoid being read by your opponents.

 

What is poker face?

Poker face is an undecipherable facial expression.  This blank expression will help you hide the strength of your hand or weakness of your hand. 

Of course, you have to learn this strategy.  Not all players can hide the strength of their hands and thus you have to practice this in the mirror to get better.

You must be asking, how you are going to use these strategies online?

You surely know that online, you cannot read a persons reactions and demeanor on the table.  How are you going to use these strategies to your advantage?

Most of the strategies you can use online will be in the way you make your bets such as speed in placing bets or words you use when chatting online.

Some reactions like yes or yeah, show confidence to your hands.  Or, being quiet after placing a bet shows weakness.

In this case, it may help to be random in your reactions and speed in betting to make sure that players cannot read you.

Your poker face as a strategy online only appears when you want your opponents to notice them.  Of course, they are only effective when you are faced with experienced players. 

If you are faced with new players, usually you have to avoid bluffing because more often than not, these new players will always call on your making bluffing less effective.

Being random and keeping your phasing in check will help but of course, playing aggressive is always far effective online and against new players.

Practice by playing free games against real people online will help you learn the effectiveness of these strategies.
